Have you always wanted to try making something in porcelain and clay? This beginner-friendly workshop is theperfect introduction! In a relaxed and creative atmosphere, you’ll learn to shape your own ceramics by hand. Guided by our experienced instructor, you’ll work with paper thin porcelain and high-quality stoneware clay to create unique, functional pieces.
What to expect:
- Learn handbuilding techniques to craft tea lights and decorative hangers in translucent porcelainand a mug and plate or some small bowls and trays in stoneware clay
- You will make approximately 5 items in porcelain and 5 items in stoneware clay
- Add your own artistic flair to create one-of-a-kind pieces!
- You can choose different kinds of imprints, textiles like lace or linnen, but also letters or some textsare For the porcelain: as it is translucent, the imprints will light up beautifully!
- Glazing and firing will be done by Atelier van de Ven
- The stoneware items will be coated with a shiny white glaze, the porcelain tea lights will only becoated on the inside with a shiny transparant glaze
Workshop details:
- Date: February 1st.
- Time: 10 AM – 1 PM.
- Price: €95 (materials and drinks included).
- Location: Atelier van de Ven – Oudedijk 7, 3062AB Rotterdam.
- Maximum participants: 5 people (for personalized guidance).
- Pickup: 8–10 weeks after the workshop (you will be notified via email).
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothes that can get dirty (we provide lab coats).
- Short nails are recommended for easier handling of the clay.
- Remove jewelry, rings, watches, or long necklaces to avoid damage.
